Mother’s Day is a day to celebrate our mothers, motherhood, and the impact that women have in society. Mother’s Day takes place every second Sunday of May and is recognized by over 40 countries, holding much importance to many individuals. See here how other countries celebrate this special day.

The origin of Mother’s Day is quite modern, having been established in the U.S. in the early 1900’s, there are some historic celebrations to honour motherhood and mothers that date back to the ancient Greeks and Romans who had festivals honouring mother goddesses such as Rhea. Although Mother’s Day is a “new” creation, it does have some precedent that refers back to Mothering Sunday, which was a Christian festival.

We hope everyone cherishes this day with his or her mothers, may it be from a past memory or a recent chat, take a moment to appreciate all that our mother’s have done, do, and will do for us.
