Valentine’s Day will make couples all around the world discover their love again. But how did this day came to be? We found out a few theories for you.
While there are several theories about the real origin of Valentine’s Day, all of them have a connection to a man with the name Valentine or Valentinus. He is always described as someone who is romantic and for whom love is essential in life.
A popular version dates back to the times of the Roman Empire during the reign of Emperor Claudius ll. The story is about a Valentine, who helped young men to secretly marry their loved ones, which at that time was only permitted to the older men.
With the course of history, the other myths about Valentine made the 14th of February the Valentine’s Day, the day of love, with all its traditions, like giving flowers to the women or writing each other lovely cards.
